Nomi Doga is an all-natural brewery in Los Angeles that handcrafts small batches of Sool—traditional Korean alcohol- using only three ingredients: rice, water, and nuruk.
Nomi Doga founders and cousins, Jimmy and Jo, were inspired by their Nomi halmoni (grandmother), who home-brewed Makgeolli while living with their families in Los Angeles. To the older generation, her fresh, sweet, and tangy wines brought nostalgia, memories from their small Korean village. To the younger generation, this "farmer's drink" from the old country was a revelation—fresh, sweet, tangy, and alive—unlike anything found anywhere in the U.S.
Nomi Doga takes great pride in its methodical, low-intervention approach, staying true to the people and practices that have sustained this craft for so many years. Using organic California rice, local wild yeast, and a process light on technology and heavy on hands, Nomi Doga strives to create Korean alcohol that can transport longtime Sool drinkers to the motherland while also captivating a newer generation of Sool lovers.
